Christmas Doily Candles

Home Decorating:

Can you believe that Christmas is just over 7 weeks away? Seems like it was yesterday Em and I were posting our Christmas ideas last year!

Em and I have some great ideas over the coming weeks to help you get organised for Christmas this year, so make sure you check in with us so you don't miss out!

Anyway, I thought I'd start out nice and easy this week with some pretty doily candles. This has to be one of the simplest ways to decorate your table for Christmas.

Simply find some paper doilies (mine were 99c for a pack of 12 at the discount shop) and wrap them around any jars, hurricane lamps or votive candle holders you might have and tie with a mix of lovely red ribbons.

Happy Christmas crafting.

Christmas Reindeer Napkins

It's been a busy week at our place this week and even with some sewing friends over for a girls' afternoon getting any sewing done has been a challenge!!!

Luckily I did mange to finish off these napkins I started a few weeks ago. I'm thinking I will keep these for myself - I don't have any Christmas linens yet!

These were quick to make too - I bought some plain white napkins from Target and did a large running stitch around the outside in a red pearl cotton.

Next I used a cookie cutter in the shape of a reindeer to trace my shape. Ironed it onto vlisofix and then machine zigzagged each one in place!

You could make these for any occasion to really personalise the day with numbers for special birthdays, monograms for a wedding, children's images for fun parties and the list goes on.

A Framed Christmas Tree

Artwork / Craft:

My home is yet to experience its Christmas makeover - but I am trying to get together some great things for the house this year. Thom is now 2 and I think this will be his most exciting Christmas yet so I want our home to feel festive.

I had a empty picture frame at home and thought it might be nice to dress it up for Christmas!

This was really simple to make and I used more of my scraps!!! - I am secretly very pleased how well I have been doing lately using up my scraps rather than purchasing new fabrics!

I sewed together a few scraps in strips and then cut out a triangle shape.

Next I laid the tree out onto the card and placed the frame around it to ensure it was centred properly.

Then I glued it onto the backing with a little spray glue. This just helps secure it for when you are sewing it onto the card.

Next a simple straight line stitch around the tree and you are done!

Pop it into the frame and display it with all your Christmas goodies!

PS - apologies for the poor quality photo above - couldn't figure out how to make the glass reflection go away :)
