Quilting:
Ever since I made the raw edge circle quilt back here from Cluck Cluck Sew I have been thinking about using the tutorial to make a quick piecing method for a drunkard's path block.
I had a go last night and it was very simple - nice and quick and will make a lovely simple quilt (if I ever get around to making more blocks!)
Materials:
- Fabric in 2 contrasting colours (enough to cut out 2 x 7 inch squares and 2 circles approximately 5 inches in diameter from each)
- Rotary cutter
- Cutting board
- Plate/Bowl/cup or similar(to use as your circle template)
Instructions:
- Follow the basic tutorial for the raw edge circles from Cluck Cluck Sew here up to where you cut each block into 4 smaller squares.
Note: My initial blocks are 7 inch square, only because my circle (my dessert bowl from the cupboard) fitted nicely into this size!
You will need to make 4 basic circle blocks to complete 1 drunkards path block. You need to make 2 with one background and 2 with the other background.
2. Now all you need to do is organise the layout for the block and sew them together! Like I did below.
3. Ta-da - the finished block.
PS. I'd love to hear how you go with this - or even better see any finished blocks/quilts you make using this method!
