Home Decorating:
This is my little boy James’s bedroom as it looks right now! Recently I
changed it around a bit as I wanted it to reflect his age (he’ll be 3 at the
end of December), and to show more of the things he likes at the moment.
Of course, my makeover was very simple and cheap! I didn’t want to go to too much trouble or expense for the moment. So, his room basically has all of the same things in it that it had when he was a baby.
The paint colour is
also exactly the same. But, post-makeover, the look of his room is completely
different!
I really only changed and added a few things. Firstly, I added some
colourful pictures and artwork to his walls. I stuck all of these things up
with Blu-Tack. Surprisingly, he only pulled these off for a few days… I
persisted and kept putting them back… and he eventually gave up! Great!
His sister Poppy kindly painted the canvases for him. I just love the
underwater scene one. The other pictures are things that Poppy has done at
school, a drawing from a cousin, a lovely gift card from someone, and some
little wooden fish from a magnetic game. Really, you can stick up whatever your child likes!
The ‘sharks’ picture with accompanying warning (courtesy of sister
Poppy) is particularly handy. (!)
I've now got baskets under his cot so that James can easily get his
toys out, and put them back – not.
I added a big European pillow for sleeping on and a couple of other
decorative ones. The duck one I had made in a previous post, and the beautiful
patchwork dog is a cushion that I had when I was little.
I have also made a little library by lining up some of his books along
the bottom of the wall.
The only thing I purchased for his “new” room was a rug. From memory it
cost about $40 posted to me. The rug looks nice and retro, plus he does play on
it a bit with his cars!
And James loves his room! However, at night times you wouldn't think so
because he spends so much time getting out of the cot and hanging around in the
corridor, trying not to go back to bed!!
Enjoy any decorating or re-arranging that you get time to do this week!
